The Futuristic Car

 

        CCT204 Design and Thinking at the University of Toronto gave me the project of creating three icons to highlight the features of any product. I decided to create symbols highlighting key features of a futuristic car. 

 

        These symbols represent the key features of my self-created futuristic car. Instead of designing the features as simple illistrations of the car performing these extrodinary feats, I decided to use the symbolism of animals to create a more unique and organic vibe juxtaposing with this new technology. The animals were specifically chosen to highlight the car's features whch is shared with the chosen animal.

 

        The bird is the sign for the car being able to fly as high as the driver desires. The chameleon is the sign for the car being able to change color at will. The driver has the ability at any time to change the exterior and interior colors, just like the chameleon is able to camouflage. The fish is the sign for the car to be able to swim and act as an actual submarine.

 

        The animals give the car a distinctive look by aknowledging nature's ability to do certain actions and intergrate that with man-made technology. The unique designed lines and shapes on each of the animals are made to provide a powerful look and emphasize its distinctive abilities. The bird's wings (used to fly), the chameleon's spikes (used to sense danger and change) and the fish's fin (used to swim).

 

        The wheel is used as a trademark to remind the user that there has been a dramatic fusion of advancedd technology and organic biology blended with the car. The subtle use of white helps retain focus towards the symbol as well as creating a similar consistency with one another. The similar eye designs, white exposure and space for text all contribute to the flowing consistency and overall dramatic look.
