Ad Analysis  

 

        CCT316 Marketing and Advertisement in New Media, a course at the University of Toronto provided the tools to critically analyze new media. With this arsenal I chose 5 React Gum for an ad analysis.

 

Abstract: 

 

        The ideologies found in advertisements can be executed to create emotional attachments with viewers. They are often derived from the most predominant subjects that are always prevalent in human behavior. Of those subjects is commodity fetishism and selling with brands. This concept will be explored through 5’s ad campaign series “React Chew”, with particular attention to their televised commercials “React 1” and “React 2”. 5’s ad campaign communicates specifically towards revolutionizing their gum via branding their gum through commodity fetishism into the ideology of individualism and the release of social freedom.
